For more than 100 years Margraf has exported excellence in design and quality of their “made in Italy” brand worldwide. It has now strengthened its position in Central Asia, in Baku, Azerbaijan, thanks to a major project for the restoration of a former naval shipyard dating back to the Soviet era. Located on the Sea Side Boulevard, the new President Jazz Club is part of a large urban upgrading project, promoted by President Ilham Aliyev, who wants to turn this abandoned post-industrial area into an International Conference Site for informal meetings with political representatives from all over the world. Also, his artistic sensitivity, and in particular his love of music, has meant that the new building has been specially designed and soundproofed so that it can also be used as a venue for jazz concerts. This work has involved the use of 1, 500 square metres of Margraf natural stone and marble. For the exterior, local stone was used, in conformity with the historical and architectural standards for the city; for the interior, the company's technical office selected Breccia Aurora, a special beige-pink marble, made up of fragments of "oniciata" rock with exposed veining. To enhance the aesthetics of this material and exalt the environment in general, decorative edges were inserted in dark Ebano, a tobacco coloured natural stone with a polished finish. The Ebano is also recalled in the risers and steps of the stairs, in the flooring in front of the entrance of the lifts, and in the bathroom tops. Excellence, exclusive design, and eternity are the features that have made Margraf marble so famous throughout the world; a comprehensive service of consultancy and high quality design make this company a reliable partner for architects and designers in the creation of private residences, hotels and prestigious public spaces.
