Margraf attended the 46 th edition of Marmomacc - the exhibition devoted to the most important stone sector in the world - participating for the first time in the "Marmomacc meets design" project, the event that turned the Verona exhibition centre into an ideal meeting place among companies and designers renowned at an international level. A relationship of collaboration with the best examples of creativity in the world is already well established within Margraf and this years is enriched by the designing approach of an exceptional personality, Flavio Albanese, called to interpret Mutable Spirit, the theme aunched by the 5th edition of Marmomacc Meets Design.
Margraf stand, designed by Flavio Albanese, is presented as a highly symbolic and evocative space of this ongoing meeting-clash relationship between natural environment and human world, between nature and artifice. The area devoted to "Marmomacc Meets Design" is a sort of closed five-metre high box which recalls the idea of a precious casket, externally covered by polished slabs made of Fior di Pesco Carnico® marble - exclusive material of the company with fine shades of gray, white and pink. Inside, a hushed and light set, in stark contrast with the external perception, welcomes the visitor, transporting him into a dimension suspended in space and time. It is the triumph of nature, or rather, of human artifice, with a perfect genius and technique that make it able to recreate the natural charm with a surprising truthfulness: the floor made of B Bianco Laser marble, decorated with dark floral inlays made of Grey Saint Laurent marble, creates a sort of tree carpet visually introducing the statue made of Bianco Laser marble, an arborescent form almost caught when it crystallizes into stone, or perhaps a stone about to become a plant. It is a fascinating reinterpretation of the myth of Apollo and Daphne, a metaphor of the total Metamorphosys of spirit and matter, that Flavio Albanese is able to masterfully translate into the language of marble, giving the matter an absolutely extraordinary spontaneity: the light and ethereal leafy fronds - machined with the latest technologies the company is equipped with - hover in the air with an inconsistency unconceivable for the stone, recalling, also thanks to a fascinating play of lights, the effect of the leaves stroked by the wind. The nature reveals itself within the human work and transforms through technique. Where there is nature there is change, where there is change there is spirit.
A corridor with a high design content, covered with Grey Saint Laurent marble, opens between the two areas and two souls of the stand: the intimate and highly tensioned soul of Mutable Spirit and the relational and convivial soul of the commercial space. The mined workpieces designed by Flavio Albanese stand out in the corridor: three sinks and two washbasins, made of Nero Belgio and Bianco Laser marble, creating the ideal frame for the elliptical bath made of Bianco Venezia marble (220x100 cm) in the shape of a leaf placed at the centre of the space. The marble rediscovers itself as a flexible and lightweight material, ideal to shape the expressive potential of the best design, carrying innovation and experimentation.
