Stone design experiments
The project theme of the Product Design Course is the fruit of the synergy with the students of the Department of Geology of the Scientific and Technological Campus of the University of Ferrara.
The Geologic Park provides for positioning large samples of different lithotypes along a path designed for a green area owned by the University of Ferrara.
A series of “stations” have been identified along the path. These are rest areas where to place geological samples donated by companies and outdoor furnishing items designed by students of the Design Course.
The meeting between geologists and architects has produced a combined offering that extends research from the field of knowledge to the field of application, that is, the transformation of stone materials into design products.

The project consists in the design of two types of seats in natural stone using the diamond wire cutting technique. Fluctus ”relax” with inclined tall backrest, Fluctus ”temporary” without flat backrest. The seat is composed of many small, comfortable waves; their function is to drain rainwater and perfectly disperse heat thanks to the least possible contact between the back and the stone.
