REBELLIOUS NATURE
SCULPTURE COMPETITION
Second edition of Marble Stories
The closing date for entries is Friday 14 July 2017
Following on from the interesting experience last year, Margraf has launched a new sculpture competition. Participating artists must use their skills to share feelings and inspire reflection on the theme of “Rebellious Nature”. In the sculpture process, they must channel their creative energy into works that portray and convey the beauty of marble: a material that is one of the wonders
of the world. The “Rebellious Nature” competition by Margraf is for Italian and international sculptors who want to create a unique piece that focuses specifically on the inherent “rebellious” quality of Nature. The competition is free to enter. It is open to all artistic projects made exclusively from Vicenza Stone that are in keeping with the theme and aim to draw attention to a clear concept: Nature is rebellious and sooner or later it will reclaim its space… Margraf’s headquarters will play host to 6 international artists from 9.00 am on Monday 11 September until 6.30 pm on Saturday 16 September, when the sculptures will be judged by a jury of leading figures from the world of art and collecting. During the week-long Artist-in-residence programme, all six sculptors will be provided with 1 m³ of Vicenza Stone. The works will subsequently be exhibited from 27 to 30 September at the Marmomacc International Trade Fair in Verona and then sold at a charity auction. All of the proceeds will be donated to the Città della Speranza (City of Hope) Foundation, which has been fighting against paediatric haematological malignancies for years.
