About us

Lovers of the raw material, expert craftsmen, tireless innovators. We work every day to transform marble into an emotion to be experienced.

The power of persistence

Our unwavering commitment to innovation and perceptive appreciation of architecture and design are two constants that have made us what we are today.

It all started in Chiampo, in 1906. A village in the province of Vicenza, in the Venetian Pre-Alps. A Company, Industria Marmi Vicentini, began extracting marble blocks from local quarries and processing them at its nearby factory. The rest is history: constant growth from 1935, under Gaetano Marzotto, the birth of Margraf Spa in the 1980s, the merger into the Linea Marmo Group in 1999.

Timeline

Audentes fortuna iuvat. Fortune favours the bold, as the courageous choices and fortunate encounters that have marked the history of Margraf have demonstrated.

The founding of the Company by a group of entrepreneurs from Vicenza, the expansion onto the international market in 1977 and the arrival in 1999 – at the behest of Count Paolo Marzotto – of Silvio Xompero and his brothers Raffaele and Sergio, who brought new tech savvy and dynamism to the business, are just some of the key moments in Margraf’s history.

The Margraf Mission

We have exported Italian savoir faire all over the world, constructed cultural symbols and sites on all five continents with our marble. An achievement that fills us with pride and motivates us to continue doing the thing we love most: transforming nature into architecture, marble into an emotion to be experienced.

What sets us apart.

Rethink marble

We have rethought marble: sustainable, responsible and part of a circular economy. Rethink marble is an environmental project through which we protect the natural habitat of our Fior di Pesco Carnico® quarry and undertake to use renewable energy in our plants.

Fior di Pesco Carnico®

“Valuable, sustainable, versatile.” These are the words that best describe Fior di Pesco Carnico®, words spoken by someone who knows this marble very well: Argentine architect Cesar Pelli, who used it for the “Winter Garden” project in New York in 1987.

Technology: material ingenuity

We like to use technology to challenge marble and its rules: innovation does not take the place of craftsmanship but is combined with our savoir faire to create three-dimensional coverings and parabolic shapes, to eliminate waste, to exploit computerised design and to develop numerically controlled processes.
