In the lively urban context of Porta Volta in Milan, just a short distance from the Porta Garibaldi Terminal, stands the Viu Hotel, where Margraf fine marbles embellish the bathrooms of the 124 rooms.

The hotel and its public spaces, together with the square it overlooks, are pivotal points of excellence within the routes that connect the new cultural areas of the city centre, such as the Feltrinelli Foundation, the ADI centre, with the Casa del Design museum complex, up to the nearby Fabbrica del Vapore and, at the same time, are a panoramic point that affords a 360° view of Milan thanks to the breathtaking terrace with swimming pool and the roof bar.

The hotel, designed by the Arassociati firm, was conceived with a modern architecture made of homogeneous shapes and materials, diversified in the fronts towards the city views, and integrated into the new public square with its distinctive vertical green landscape design.

The main external materials are glass, metal and wood (cladding in laminated elements): materials totally converted according to modern eco-sustainable construction criteria. Another compositional element integrated with the architecture is the vertical green that surrounds and characterises the bodies.

Inside the rooms, the Port Laurent, black marble with gold veins – which makes it ideal for luxury and elegant settings – and the Fior di Pesco Carnico, a material with light tones ranging from white to grey to light pink, with different veins – which make it special and of which Margraf owns the only existing quarry in the world – are skilfully used to make all the solid washbasins in the bathrooms and for the tiling of the bathtubs and showers inside the suites.

Among the public areas on the ground floor, in addition to the large halls with reception and living spaces, the significant presence of a gourmet restaurant and the spaces of the “Bulk” bar, a tribute to the cultural centre that once enlivened the neighbourhood, afford an atmosphere of comfortable contemporary luxury blended with a lively and informal international ambiance.
